Borrowed from Ottoman Turkish سودی (sevdi), third-person singular past definite indicative of سومك (sevmek) (Turkish sevmek (to love)), used as a participle in Serbo-Croatian. Akin to sevdàlīnka, sevdàlija, sevdàluk, sèvdāh, sèvdisati.
