Etymology

From Proto-Finnic *rasva, borrowed from Germanic (compare German Gekröse (intestines, bowels) and Dutch kroos (the viscera of an animal)). Cognate with Finnish rasva, Votic razvõ, Livvi razvu, Livonian razā, Ingrian razva, Ludian razv and Veps razv.
