Inherited from Old Czech mysl, from Proto-Slavic *myslь. Cognate with Russian мысль (myslʹ), Polish myśl, Macedonian мисла (misla), Bulgarian мисъл (misǎl), Slovene misel, Serbo-Croatian мисао or misao.
