[edit]From Proto-Vietic *c-maŋʔ, from Proto-Mon-Khmer *rməŋ (“to listen”). Cognate with Chut [Rục] cəmaŋ³, Bolyu mɔŋ³³, Mon မှိၚ်, Eastern Lawa ฮมอง.
Attested in Phật thuyết đại báo phụ mẫu ân trọng kinh (佛說大報父母恩重經) as 車莽 (MC tsyhae mangX) (modern SV: xa mảng).
