[edit]From Middle English grasy, from Old English *græsiġ, *gærsiġ, from Proto-West Germanic *grasagrōnī, from Proto-Germanic *grasagrōniz, equivalent to grass + -y. Compare Saterland Frisian gäärsich (“grassy”), Dutch grazig (“grassy”), German grasig (“grassy”), Icelandic grösugur (“grassy”).
