Etymology[edit]
From Medieval Latin brenāgium, from brenna (“bran as dog food”) + -āgium. Equivalent to bren (“bran”) + -age.

- A form of feudal tenure based on the payment of bran or other cereals to maintain the lord's hounds; land held under such tenure. [14th–15th c.]
