[edit]From Andalusian Arabic الفُنْدَق (al-fúndaq), from Arabic فُنْدُق (funduq, “inn, hotel”), from Ancient Greek πανδοκεῖον (pandokeîon, “inn”). Cognate to Catalan alfòndec and Portuguese alfândega.
