This template should be used just under the ‘Proper noun’ header for Egyptian proper nouns, specifying the gender and the hieroglyphic writing.

Basic usage is

  • {{egy-proper noun|m|head=<hiero></hiero>}}

Parameters

|1= or |g=
The gender (and number). Use m for the masculine singular, m-d for the masculine dual, m-p for the masculine plural, f for the feminine singular, f-d for the feminine dual, or f-p for the feminine plural. For toponyms that were originally masculine but later often treated as feminine, use m-topo.
|g2=
An alternative gender.
|head=
Specify the hieroglyphic writing here, enclosed in WikiHiero tags (<hiero></hiero>).
|head2=
An alternative hieroglyphic writing; preferably do not use this, but use an ‘Alternative forms’ subheader with {{egy-hieroforms}} instead.
