John Camden Hotten's Slang Dictionary (1873) has a different spelling, mooney, defined as "intoxicated" and "a silly fellow" (which are among the existing senses we have here). That spelling is not so easy to locate in Google Books. It doesn't help that it's a surname too. Equinox 06:58, 4 March 2022 (UTC)Reply
