Carpentry sense[edit]

"lookout" is also a carpentry term, referring, I think, either to the rafter tails extending outside the wall, or to the horizontal members running from the wall to the ends of the rafters & to which the soffit is nailed, or to blocks simply nailed to the wall to support the eave -- one or more of these. — This comment was unsigned.
