Usage in El Salvador

[edit]

I added the following usage note in this edit:

The Diccionario de la Real Academia Española (DRAE), 23rd edition, reports the meaning 'friend' in the Spanish of El Salvador, but it is either obsolete or very unusual in that country.

This is based on my personal knowledge as a native speaker from San Salvador, born in the early 1990s. My father, born in the early 1960s, also says he has never heard this word in El Salvador, ever. For both of us, it is a peculiar word from Mexico. (Neither of us knows whether it is used or not in Guatemala or Honduras.)--Ser be etre shi (talk) 04:11, 15 June 2020 (UTC)Reply
