As all-lowercase, it looks like it should be a blend of air and artist- someone who makes trails of bubbles in liquids, works with inflatables, does skywriting or performs something akin to air guitar. Chuck Entz (talk) 21:08, 1 January 2023 (UTC)Reply
I can find uses on Usenet in contexts related to model aircraft and flight simulators: [1], [2]. These might be using it in reference to airbrushing: [3], [4], [5].
