German

[edit]

Etymology

[edit]

Unadapted borrowing from English account. The alternative pronunciations are due to the fact that German has no native initial /ə/ (though in the case of /ɛ-/ perhaps also to a falsely assumed English pronunciation).

Pronunciation

[edit]
  • IPA(key): /əˈkaʊ̯nt/, (also) /ɛˈkaʊ̯nt/, /aˈkaʊ̯nt/
  • Audio:(file)

Noun

[edit]

Account m or (uncommon) n (strong, genitive Accounts, plural Accounts)

  1. (computing, Internet) user account
Synonyms: Benutzerkonto, Konto, (redundant, but not rare) Benutzeraccount

Declension
