Pronunciation

Suffix

[edit]

-garren

  1. Ordinal number suffix.
    bi (two) + ‎-garren → ‎bigarren (second)
    lau (four) + ‎-garren → ‎laugarren (fourth)
    ehun (hundred) + ‎-garren → ‎ehungarren (hundredth)

Usage notes

[edit]
  • The ordinal form of bat (one) is lehen (first), not *batgarren. However, in compound numbers ending in bat, the suffix is regularly applied. For example, the ordinal form of hogeita bat (twenty-one) is hogeita batgarren (twenty-first), and not *hogeita lehen.
