Etymology[edit]
From Proto-Athabaskan *ɣʸanʸ (“to be wise, be aged”). Nouns such as są́ (“old aged”) and sání (“elderly, old one”) both belong to this root.
Possibly related to the root -YĄ́ (“to grow”).
