Etymology

From Old Khmer jaṃrau, jaṃrova (“deep; depth, deepness; deep place, as gully, ravine, gorge, etc”); being extended forms of Old Khmer jrau, jrov (“deep; depth, deepness”). Cognate with Modern Khmer ជំរៅ (cumrɨw).
