Etymology

Borrowed from Portuguese Sintra, the name of a town in Portugal. Cognate with Gujarati સંતરું (santrũ), Assamese সুমথিৰা (xumthira), সোণতৰা (xüntora), সন্ত্ৰা (xontra).
