Etymology[edit]
Inherited from Prakrit 𑀲𑀡𑀺𑀘𑁆𑀙𑀭 (saṇicchara), from Sanskrit *शनैश्चर (śanaiścara, “slow-moving”). Cognate with Punjabi چَھنِچَّھر / ਛਨਿੱਛਰ (chanicchar) and Urdu سَنِیچَر (sanīcar).
