[edit]Etymology
[edit]Unknown, too rare a word, perhaps from the root م س خ (m-s-ḵ), maybe an Aramaic borrowing related to Classical Syriac ܐܡܫܐ (ʾamšā, “flow, spurt”), ܐܡܝܫܐ (ʾāmīšā, “swamp; wetland edge of a river”) in reference to where it grows.
