From Phoenician 𐤑𐤉𐤃𐤅𐤍 (ṣydwn /⁠Ṣīdūn⁠/). Cognate with Hebrew צִידוֹן (Ṣīḏōn) and Aramaic ܨܝܕܘܢ (Ṣidon).
