Cognate with Menominee anāhkyan (reed mat), Ojibwe anaakan (woven mat, rug), Munsee anáanzoon (sheet, bedcover), Penobscot ánehkson (mat, carpet), Cree ᐊᓈᐢᑳᐣ (anaaskaan, mat, carpet, quilt), Northern East Cree ᐊᓈᐦᑭᓱᓐ (anaahkison, mattress, something to lie on), Montagnais anekashun (mattress).
