[edit]taoi
Usage notes
[edit]- Formerly used primarily in Munster though still very common in Kerry as conas taoi? (“how are you?”); the synthetic form táir is now even rarer than older taoi, while the less historical analytic form tá tú as promulgated in the controversial Caighdeán Oifigiúil ("Official Standard") is non-existent in Western Munster, where the even less historical form tánn (and fuileann after particles) is used before the 2nd person singular tú and plural sibh.
