[edit]Inherited from Ottoman Turkish سلام علیکم,[1] from Classical Persian سلام علیکم (salāmun ʿalaykum), from Arabic سَلَامٌ عَلَيْكُمْ (salāmun ʕalaykum, “peace be upon you”).[2]
