section 8 (countable and uncountable, plural section 8s)

  1. (US, informal) Federally subsidized housing for low-income families and individuals, formally known as the Housing Choice Voucher Program.
  2. (US, military) Discharge from the United States military for reason of being mentally unfit for service.

      By the time got out of the service I was tuly [sic] a broken man. The constant threat of the stockade or a section eight (undesireable discharge for being gay) drove me to the verge of insanity.
