Rejtan, or the Fall of Poland, a painting by Jan Matejko depicting Rejtan lying on the floor before the door of the Sejm building in order to prevent deputies from leaving.

Etymology

Literally, to lay down as Rejtan, named after Polish nobleman Tadeusz Rejtan, who in September 1773 tried to prevent the legalization of the first partition of Poland during the Partition Sejm.
