one/won

[edit]

Hello, on the page for "one", there's also an additional UK pronunciation that seems very common to me as a non-native speaker:

"one" /wɒn/

cf. https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/one#Pronunciation

My question: Is this true of "won" also? --80.187.105.82 23:39, 23 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

Aren't all three pronounced /wʌn/?

[edit]

Etymology 2 comes from an Old English form with u (wunian), so the o in the spelling indicates a pronunciation with /ʌ/ (as it does in wonder, from Old English wunder, well as etymology 1) Etymology 3 is pronounced as /wʌn/ in the original Korean. So why is the pronunciation /wʌn/ only listed for etymology 1 and not for 2 and 3? UmbrellaTheLeef (talk) 09:13, 28 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
