Missing slang sense?

[edit]

e.g. (seen on Tumblr) "Nick Cannon is a messy butch queen". Is this a separate sense? Is it AAVE? Something like a hot mess? (BTW, in my variety, somebody can be "a mess", e.g. weeping/distraught or generally a loser, but cannot be "messy" unless we are talking about e.g. failing to keep their house clean.) I can't answer either question, but common US usage of a mess and messy is the same as yours. I am assuming that one would be messy in your idiolect if one's car or place of work or study was disorganized. DCDuring TALK 23:08, 29 July 2015 (UTC)Reply
