Horsehair sense / picture
[edit]An excellent picture of “feathers” in the horsehair sense is at (notice the quality of detail of the fine hairs):
- The above photo shows "feathering," the long hairs on the back of the lower legs of a horse, and "spats," the long hair that goes over the hooves. Feathering and spats are a common characteristic of draft horses, though some breeds have them more than others.
I couldn’t find an equivalently good picture on Commons, but one would be very much appreciated. It’s a straightforward shot if the lighting’s good (and the ground is not distracting, and the horse doesn’t move too much), but it needs to be specifically photographed, otherwise one gets a low-resolution crop (as currently).

Euphemism
[edit]The page says it's a euphemism, but it doesn't say what it's a euphemism for. Is it proper to link to the vulgarity? 38.105.155.134 19:11, 24 December 2014 (UTC)
- Good point. I've added "horseshit" to the etymology section. —Mr. Granger (talk • contribs) 20:03, 24 December 2014 (UTC)
