- I don't know for sure, but it's certainly plausible. Latin v becomes Irish f in loanwords, and in early loanwords Latin p was replaced by Primitive Irish kʷ (> Old Irish c) since Prim.Ir. didn't have a p. That's why "Easter" in Irish is Cáisc < pascha; other examples are Old Irish Cothrige "Patrick" and cruimther < presbyter "priest". —Angr 15:29, 11 September 2012 (UTC)
