Isn't "ett" also the definite article when used with an adjective: "ett stor hus" -> "the big house"? (please forgive the horrible spelling and grammar otherwise) — Hippietrail 07:23, 31 Oct 2004 (UTC)

Not that I'm aware of: ett is only the indefinite article for the neuter gender; ett stort hus means "a big house". The neuter definite article is det, and you get det stora huset, where the noun has the suffixed definite article as well. | hyark 17:37, 31 Oct 2004 (UTC)
Thanks very much for refreshing my Swedish grammar! (-: — Hippietrail 12:43, 1 Nov 2004 (UTC)

[edit]

'Ett' is a non-standard past participle of 'eat' in some varieties of colloquial English. Should that be recorded on the page? 92.12.136.10 20:27, 7 August 2015 (UTC)Reply
