English: Talking drum is an indigenous instrument in western region of Nigeria, west Africa. The instrument is widely used in the western state of Nigeria such as; Oyo, Osun, Ekiti, Ogun etc. Locally, the name of the instrument is called GANGAN, and this instrument is mostly used during celebrations such as coronations, weddings, naming ceremonies, burial ceremonies etc. Also its been used in churches too. In the olden days, the instrument is been used to call the attention of the chiefs in the palace that the king is coming on its way. This instrument doesn't only serve the purpose of been used in parties, its also been used to talk secretly and to make fun of people.
