Title
Lead plug
Description
English: A cylindrical lead plug or stopper. It weighs 20g, is 33mm long, and has a diameter of ??. The plug has a smooth, cylindrical body, with a rounded tip and a splayed head where it has been flattened out, presumably to seal the fit in a bottle of vessel. Unlike more ad hoc 'potmenders' this example seems to have been manufactured to meet specific formal and proportional requirements, such that it might stop the neck of a bottle or similar. It could date to any period between the Roman and modern eras.
