Description
English: Ferruginous Pygmy Owl - Glaucidium brasilianum (Gmelin, 1788).

Owls have three eyelids. One is closing when the owl blinks, second is closing up when the Owl is asleep,

and the third is cleaning and protecting the surface of the eye. The third eyelid is called a nictitating membrane (Membrana nicitans) that closes diagonally across the eye.
