English: Funnel, wine tundish (funnel), pewter additional comments- makers comment- “Pewter funnels have been around as long as pewter. The earliest reference to one is in 1592, whilst they were still appearing (8 types no less) in a 1921 catalogue. Dating is difficult because the conical shape seems to have been around for a very long period. There is, for example, a drawing of a funnel very similar to this in the James Yates' catalogue of circa 1874 (see P48), but that is not a reliable guide to the dating of this one.” Peter Hayward, Database Manager, Pewter Society, England, 28 February 2008
