Description
English: Fragment composed of bodice of dress: on white, diagonally-striped, waffed ground [silkl warp, wool weft], block-printed pattern in lavender, green and orange, of vertically serpentining flowering vine. Height of repeat about 9". Goods probably machine-woven. Skirt has been dismantled. Bodice: low boned, cross-over folds in front with point, fastens by hook and eye in back; full gigot sleeves tight with shaped, edged with lavender piping as are seams of bodice. Card packed with dress reads, "Catharine Beck V.C. 1818-1895"
