Inherited from Proto-Turkic *kutlug (fortunate, blessed) equivalent to 𐰴𐰆𐱃 (qut, luck, fortune) +‎ 𐰞𐰆𐰍 (-luɣ). Cognate with Turkish kutlu (happy, blessed).
