Etymology
[edit]From ἐκ (ek, “out”), formed on the model of ἐντός (entós, “within, inside”).[1] Cognate with Old Irish acht (“but, provided that”), Gothic 𐌰𐌹𐌸𐌸𐌰𐌿 (aiþþau, “or, otherwise”).
