[edit]From Proto-Indo-Aryan *wayám, from Proto-Indo-Iranian *wayám, from Proto-Indo-European *weyóm. Cognate with Avestan 𐬬𐬀𐬉𐬨 (vaēm), Old English wē (whence English we).
