[edit]Inherited from Old Marathi 𑘕𑘹𑘪𑘜𑘹 (jevaṇe), from Maharastri Prakrit 𑀚𑁂𑀫𑀇 (jemaï), from Sanskrit जेमति (jémati), possibly from Proto-Munda *ɟv₁₀m (“to eat”). Related to जेवण (jevaṇ). Compare Gujarati જમવું (jamvũ), Hindi जीमना (jīmnā), Hindi जेंवना (jẽvnā), Konkani जेव्चे (jevce).
