[edit]Inherited from Proto-Turkic *tara- (“to comb”), the same root of طراق (tarak, “comb”); cognate with Azerbaijani daramaq, Bashkir тарау (taraw), Kazakh тарау (tarau), Kyrgyz тароо (taroo), Tatar таратырга (taratırga), Turkmen daramak and Uzbek taramoq.

- (transitive) to hackle, to separate the coarse part of flex or hemp from the fine
- (transitive) to rake, to collect debris or grass with a toothed implement

- (transitive) to harrow, to drag a harrow over, or to break up with a harrow
