◌͔

  1. (UPA) backed (retracted) articulation (post-alveolar t, post-velar k, backed e, etc.); equivalent to IPA ⟨◌̠⟩.

Usage notes

[edit]

This diacritic may either appear below a letter or as a subscript immediately after it. A descender on the letter will generally force the diacritic to the right, but some authors place the diacritic to the right of consonants but under vowels, or follow other patterns.
