1. (romanization) used to create the letter ⟨ḫ⟩, used i.a. for Arabic خ (ḵ).
2. (IPA) On a consonant with an ascender, may be used to indicate a tap: e.g. ⟨ʡ̮⟩, ⟨ʎ̮⟩. Cf. default ◌̆.
3. (UPA) a central vowel.

Usage notes

(UPA): With normal vowels, the breve appears below the letter, e.g. ⟨i̮ e̮ ɛ̮ a̮⟩ and rounded ⟨u̮ o̮ ɔ̮ ɑ̮⟩. However, when the vowel letter is rotated to indicate a reduced vowel, the breve is rotated as well: ⟨ᴉ̑ ə̑ ᴈ̑ ɐ̑ ɒ̑⟩.
