[edit]From Tuamotuan kurio, a variant of kuri from Proto-Polynesian *kuli (compare with Maori kurī, Samoan ulī, Tongan kulī, Tahitian ʻurī and ʻūrī)[1][2] from Proto-Oceanic *kuli (compare with Fijian koli[1]).
